Over-the-counter Medicines
Aberlour Pharmacy staff will always offer you an own label alternative when available. This can save you more than 50% off the cost of your medicines. We will also check that the medicine is safe and appropriate, and best value for you.
For example, if you ask for Beechams Powders we will point out that they just contain Aspirin, so the own label is a lot cheaper. (Some people think we are mad to try and sell a cheaper product whenever we can, but we know that you will come back to a pharmacy that saves you money!) We will also check that the Beechams Powders are safe for you – they can damage the lining of the stomach, so we would recommend that someone on stomach medicines took a different remedy. They can also make asthmatics wheezy and are not great for people with kidney, heart or blood pressure problems.
Any information you give is will be treated confidentially, and you can always ask to use the consultation room for privacy. The counter staff have been trained in the safe use of over the counter medicines, and know when to ask for the pharmacist’s advice.
