Environment
When the pharmacy was redesigned in 2006 Karen worked closely with the Energy Saving Trust to reduce the carbon footprint of the pharmacy.
Double glazed windows were installed, low energy lighting was used, the ceiling and walls were insulated and a more energy efficient air conditioning system was installed.
Since the refit the pharmacy staff recycle as much waste as possible, including all glass and vast quantities of paper and cardboard each week.
All paper that has a patient name on it or other confidential information, even blank prescription repeat slips, is shredded and used as animal bedding.
We would like to reduce the amount of waste that goes to both landfill and to be recycled.
Could you
- Use the ice packs that are used to keep refrigerated deliveries cold?
- Or the large polystyrene boxes these deliveries come in? (Either to keep a picnic cool or to break up and use as light fillers in garden containers and window boxes?)
- Or the many cardboard boxes we receive each day?
Please contact the pharmacy and we will keep them on one side for you to collect.
