Stopping smoking programme
For every 2lb you lose, alli will help you lose another 1lb
Smoking is an expensive habit that many people would love to give up!
The cold, snow and dark evenings do not make it much fun stepping out from pubs or restaurants to smoke either. NHS smoking cessation support is available at Aberlour Pharmacy without an appointment. Each months supply of patches, gum, inhalator, etc costs one prescription charge - £3 until 31st March.
If you get free NHS prescriptions then you also get free Nicotine Replacement products.
No smoking cessation scheme or product has a 100% success rate, but we are very proud of the number of people in the area that we have helped to stop smoking. It hasn't always worked at the first attempt, but working together we often crack the habit! It's a team effort, you, the nicotine replacement products and the pharmacist.
If you would like to discuss stopping smoking the pharmacist would be delighted to see you – no appointment is required.
If patches, gum or any other type of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is right for you this will be prescribed by the pharmacist on the NHS.

The private consultation room is always available. The pharmacist also has access to records of prescriptions you have dispensed here at Aberlour Pharmacy. This means that the treatment they recommend for you will be safe with the medicines the Doctor has prescribed, but also tells the pharmacist about the illnesses you are being treated for. For example, decongestants are not suitable for people being treated for high blood pressure.

In an ideal world you would plan which effective method of contraception to use before it is required, and condoms would never fail.
Unfortunately, in the real world, emergency contraception is sometimes needed.
Emergency contraception (also known as “the morning after pill”) is available from the pharmacist free of charge, confidentially*. It is more effective it is taken as soon as possible, but is effective if taken up to 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex.
Information and advice (in a no-nagging, no-lecturing style) about effective contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, supply of free condoms, making appointments for you with a GP, etc are also provided.
Brand leader and “value” pregnancy tests are available. The pharmacist and the private consultation room are always available. There may be just a few minutes wait if the pharmacy is busy.
***The pharmacist will explain to you that everything you discuss will be confidential UNLESS the pharmacist is worried about your safety, in which case they have a legal obligation tell someone.
Free condoms are available from the pharmacy. Help yourself from the bowl of condoms with paper bags located discretely by the corner seat in the pharmacy. They are also available from the consultation room.
