A.Vogel Herbal Medicines

A VogelWe stock A.Vogel herbal remedies because we have confidence in their quality and safety. Their products are prepared in a facility that operates to the same standard as a pharmaceutical company (known as “Good Manufacturing Practice”, or GMP.). When the company representative, Morag, comes to visit the pharmacy she teaches us about the herbal remedies: what symptoms they are licensed for, the evidence that A.Vogel presented to the MHRA to get the licence, and which patients can / can’t use the remedy. Morag has worked for A.Vogel for many, many years, and is so helpful and approachable. If you are in the pharmacy when she visits do have a chat with her, ask her any questions you may have about herbal remedies, she is lovely!

Herbal remedies should be treated with the same respect as any other medicine, so we find the free A.Vogel helpline really useful. You can phone them yourself, or we can phone them while you are here in the pharmacy and then work together to choose the right remedy, at the right dose and by the right route. (Herbal remedies can be taken by mouth, rubbed into the skin, used as a throat spray, etc..) We also have access to “Stockley’s Drug Interactions ” on the pharmacy computers. This means we can check if the medicines prescribed by your doctor will disagree with a herbal remedy. (Stockley’s is a reference book on drug interactions and includes interactions between prescription medicines, branded medicines you can buy, herbal medicines, foods, pesticides, and drugs of abuse.)
