We stock a wide range of joint supports. We also have many tape measures, which is handy because they are very shy creatures and tend to hide when we aren’t watching. Tricky.
If possible, try to bring the affected joint with you to the pharmacy. A joint support has to be just the right size to give the right support, without cutting off the circulation or falling down at inopportune moments. If you can’t bring the joint to the pharmacy, please phone / email us and we’ll tell you how to measure the joint and if we have the right support in stock. (We can usually order in different sizes in one or two working days.)
Joint supports work with the muscles and tendons around the joint, to stop it moving excessively. They also keep the joint warm, which aids healing.
We recommend Atrogel® Arnica gel for joint pain, in addition to the right joint support. It is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the symptomatic relief of muscular aches, pains and stiffness, sprains and bruising, exclusively based upon long-standing use as a traditional remedy. It is an alternative for people who can’t use topical NSAIDs like Ibuleve and Voltarol, and doesn’t smell like a rugby club. Bonus!
Alternative uses for Joint Supports:
We sometimes recommend the hand / wrist supports to keep dressings in place when you are working. Obviously they mustn’t be too tight, but they are more effective than adhesive tape on the palm of the hand.
